Artist Biography

In his recent paintings, Jeff Adams creates levels of physicality by incorporating a variety of mixed media onto his canvases, using everything from acrylic, oil, and jute, to burlap, asphalt and plaster. However, his is a "material with no implied or inferred meanings." Instead, Adams' paintings highlight the artist's interest in achieving a work that is highly subjective. Viewers react to his paintings with sensorial responses—or"the silence of an action" as Adams calls it—while others could feel they are devoid of meaning.

Adams builds upon the flat surface of canvases that hinge on the nuances of the figure and memories of landscapes, and through varied brushwork and texture, highlight action rather than stagnation.
